DJ Shawn Q’s story didn’t begin with a record deal, a studio, or a lifelong dream of becoming an artist.

It began behind the decks.

For 13 years, Shawn built his life around DJing, learning how to read a room, connect with people, and use music to create a moment. But it wasn’t until November 2025 that he began creating music of his own.

What started as something new quickly became something much deeper.

In a short amount of time, Shawn has built an audience reaching more than 10 million streams across platforms, proving that an independent artist can build something powerful from the ground up.

But the numbers aren’t the heart of his story.

The heart is everything he had to overcome to get there.

Shawn has walked through some of life’s hardest seasons. He has experienced the loss of his mother, battled addiction and depression, wrestled with feeling like he wasn’t good enough, and faced criticism and doubt surrounding his decision to create music through AI.

There have been plenty of reasons to quit.

He kept going.

That’s where Gritty Faith comes in.

Gritty Faith means continuing when life gets hard. It means holding onto God even when your faith doesn’t always feel strong. It means believing that even in the darkest seasons, God’s presence is still there.

It’s purpose over pain.

Shawn doesn’t make music because he believes life is perfect. He makes music because he knows what it feels like when life isn’t.

His hope is that somewhere inside his music, someone who is struggling will hear a message that says:

You are seen.

You are heard.

You are not alone.

From songs like “Lacin’ Up,” “Blue Collar Pride” and “I'm Blessed,” Shawn is building more than a catalog of music. He’s building a message for people who have been knocked down, counted out, or convinced they aren’t enough.

His music is a reminder to keep moving forward, even when the road is hard.

Shawn dreams of one day stepping away from the corporate world and building a life around the music, creativity, and purpose God has placed in him. Until then, he’s continuing to create, grow, collaborate, and reach people one song at a time.

And if he could say one thing to the person listening on their hardest day, it would be simple:

Keep going.

Don’t let the hard days win.

And remember: you don’t have to walk through them alone.

Because sometimes faith isn’t about feeling strong.

Sometimes faith is simply getting back up.
